All deputed (in-service) candidates who have submitted applications for admission in session 2014-15 are requested to be present & report for verification of documents on the following dates at 11:30 AM according to their dates of joining carrying all original documents (mark sheets, age proof, service related documents like MC resolution countersigned by the DI, approval memo / letter of DI, etc.).

The list of the deputed candidates to be called for verification of papers will be published after 4th March, 2014 as per the instructions from the University of Calcutta.
Prospectus with Application Forms for admission in the session 2014-15 will be available at a cost of Rs. 500/- from the AXIS BANK, Diamond Harbour Branch during the period 30.01.2014 to 18.02.2014. Completely filled-up forms might be submitted to the office of the B.Ed. section during the same period as mentioned above (Mon-Fri: 11.00 AM - 3.00 PM and Sat: 11.00 AM - 2.00 PM, except holidays).

- The Honours paper studied at UG level should be at least of total 800 marks and Elective papers should be at least of 100 marks.
- The subject studied in PG should be same as the Honours subject studied in UG. If the subjects are different, a letter of permission from C.U will be required at the time of admission.
- The candidate may choose the Honours subject studied at UG level as first school subject and one of the elective subjects as 2nd school subject (among the subjects offered by college). Where the candidate cannot find the elective subjects in the drop down she may choose othersto complete the form. Candidates who are unable to fill in the online application may approach the college for guidance.
- Candidates who find only one of the elective subjects common among the subjects offered by the college may choose Work Education if they are interested. The final allocation is subject to approval by department. The candidates who have Honours in the following subjects are not eligible in our college

Other Rules
- All candidates, deputed and freshers will have to sit for Pre – Test, Test and Tutorials that are held from time to time. Deputed teachers will not be exempted. Any student, whether deputed or fresher, absenting herself on any ground in Tests and Tutorials throughout the session will not be sent up for Final Teaching.
- Regular Art & Craft classes and Yoga/Aerobics classes are held. Attendance in these classes is compulsory except on grounds of physical disability for which a Medical Certificate will be required.
- In case of deputed teachers, absence under Govt. Rules, will be treated as leave subject to production of leave application and medical certificate whenever necessary.
Commencement of Course
The B.Ed. Course starts from 1st July, 2014 (Tuesday) and all students must report on the opening day for orientation (time will be notified). B.Ed. admission will be solely guided by admission norms fixed by the West Bengal Government, the Calcutta University and National Council for Teacher Education. The academic session is of 1 year. Classes are held between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. from Monday to Friday. Saturday classes are optional.
Regular attendance to classes and other college functions is compulsory for all students.
The college reserves all rights of admission. Submission of application does not automatically make a student eligible for admission to the college.
According to the Norms and Principles, as may be determined/revised by the College/University from time to time, selection of students for admission to different courses will be done Strictly On Merit by the concerned authority.
ADMISSION OF STUDENTS FROM OTHER BOARDS:-
Applications of candidates from the Boards other than the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), will be considered without any mark deduction and the stipulated University rules in this regard will be followed. However, the applicants must ensure that the University of Calcutta duly recognizes the qualifying certificates/mark sheets given by the concerned Council/Board. Otherwise, his/her registration (and hence admission) will be liable to be cancelled.
Students from the Boards other than the W.B. Council of H.S. Education are admitted provisionally. The admission is not valid unless sanctioned by the University of Calcutta on submission of pass certificate within a month from the date of admission. Students failing to submit the necessary documents in time are liable to have their admission cancelled.
Applicants, who qualify the Higher Secondary or equivalent Examinations in the current or immediately previous year are eligible for application in the Day Section. However, applicants passed the qualifying examination with in the last 4 years (including current year) are eligible for application in the Morning Section.
RESERVATION RULES:-
According to the latest rules of the State Govt. regarding admissions in colleges, the reservations for the OBC (A & B) categories will be increased to 17% with in six consecutive years. Seat reservations in different category for the coming session (2014-15) will be as following:
Scheduled Caste (SC): 22%
Scheduled Tribe (ST): 6%
Other Backward Class – A (OBC-A): 2% (to be increased up to 10% in next 6 years)
Other Backward Class – B (OBC-B) : 1% (to be increased up to 7% in next 6 years)
Physically Challenged (PC) : 3% in each category above (including UR)

ACADEMIC CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:-
According to the rules of the University of Calcutta, the minimum marks in HS/equivalent is 50% in aggregate (top-4) and 45% in the subject (or in the related subject) in which he/she wants to apply for honours course.
A candidate, who fails to secure 50% in aggregate but obtained at least 55% in the subject (or in the related subject) in HS/equivalent, will be eligible for apply for honours.
If a subject is not studied in the HS/equivalent but is intended to be taken as honours, the applicant must obtain least 50% in aggregate (top-4) in the qualifying examinations.
SC/ST candidates will be eligible to apply for honours if he/she obtains at least 40% in aggregate (top-4) or 40% in the subject (or in the related subject) in HS/equivalent.
If a reserved category candidate secures a score high enough to be considered as general category otherwise, he/she must be admitted in a general category seat.
As per the rules of the Govt. of West Bengal, for taking admission in B.A. (Hons.) or in B.Sc. (Hons.) or in B.Com. (Hons.) courses, “the SC or ST candidates who are being admitted should have obtained a qualifying marks in the previous examination which is not lower by more than 25% from the marks obtained by the last candidate in the general category. However, in any case, such a candidate obtaining marks lower than the marks as prescribed by the regulations of the University for admission to the relevant courses will not be eligible for admission. The candidates included in the general merit list will not be counted towards the reserved quota.”
A candidate, who appeared but could not obtain pass mark in a subject at the previous qualifying examination, shall not be allowed to take up that subject in the Degree (Honours / General) Course.
Again, for eligibility of admission, students must fulfill all relevant rules of the W.B. Council of H.S. Education and the University of Calcutta.
As per the University Guideline, some Special Conditions for Admission to Honours Courses are as follows:
(i) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/she has passed Mathematics at the HS Examination (10+2) conducted by WBCHSE or its equivalent examination in Mathematics/Business Mathematics. Students who have passed Business Economics including Business Mathematics in HS (10+2) level from WBCHSE are not eligible for admission in the Honours Course in Economics.
(ii) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Mathematics if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination. A candidate who has passed in Business Mathematics is not eligible for admission to Mathematics Honours Course.
(iii) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Chemistry if he/she has passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.
(iv) In order to take up Honours in Education, the subjects Psychology/Philosophy/ Mathematics/Sociology/Economics/Political Science/History are to be treated as allied subject.
(v) In order to take up Honours in Philosophy, the subject Psychology be treated as allied subject.
(vi) For B.Com. Honours Course in Accounting & Finance, the word “subject” or “allied subject” shall mean Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office Practice & Secretarial, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy & Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management.
A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) under Heading “A” if he/she passed the subject(s) under Heading “B” at the previous qualifying examination (see below):

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION
Attested photo copy of:
- SC/ST/OBC certificate (if applicable)
- Physically handicapped certificate (if applicable)
- Mark sheet of Higher Secondary/Equivalent Examination
- BPL card (if applicable)
And,
- Original School Leaving Certificate (to be issued by the Head of the Institution last attended).
- Original income certificate of father/guardian (certificate must be issued by the employer for a Govt./Semi-Govt./Private Concern employee and by the Chairman of the Municipality or Pradhan of the Gram Panchayet for others).
- The Physically Challenged (PC) candidates must have a certification from the Presidency Surgeon or from the Chief Medical Officer of the District.
All original copies are to be produced for verification at the time of verification.
The SC/ST candidates shall have to enclose attested copies Caste Certificates only from the appropriate authorities along with the hard copy of the application form at the time of verification.
Admission to the B.A. General Course with Physical Education as one of the elective subjects will be provisional and subjected to qualifying in an on the field eligibility test.
CHANGE OF SUBJECT:-
Change of Honours or General subject can be done only as per the College regulations based strictly on the University norms within the stipulated time.
TRANSFER/WITHDRAWAL CERTIFICATE:-
Students seeking Transfer/Withdrawal during mid-session must pay all Annual Charges and Tuition Fees etc. up to the current month and also Transfer Fee. The student must obtain clearance from the library too. Contact should be made with the College Office for any further details.
DISCONTINUANCE OF STUDIES ETC.:-
A student who wants to discontinue studies and remain absent from College for a long time without applying for withdrawal of name shall be liable to clear all the College dues up to the current month, if he/she wants to collect any Certificate or record from the College on a subsequent date.
PUBLICATION OF MERIT LISTS FOR ADMISSION:-
The Names of the valid applicants will be published on the college notice board and on the college website also. It will not be communicated to the candidate individually.
All Merit Lists and Admissions are strictly provisional subject to the final scrutiny and acceptance of documents by the appropriate authorities, including the University of Calcutta. The College does not accept any responsibility for cancellation of admission for any reason whatsoever, by the University of Calcutta.
